Work Requirements

The Systems Engineer team will:

  • Assist in guiding multiple IT systems through security accreditation processes.
  • Develop documentation including System Security Plans (SSPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), user manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Translate customer requirements into technical solutions, considering performance, lifecycle cost, and architectural impacts.
  • Provide technical project management support, including estimation, scheduling, and cost assessments for cloud-based solutions.
  • Support data integrity and enhance business process efficiency and insight.
  • Develop and implement standardized installation and maintenance procedures for middleware applications.
  • Provide strategic guidance for database creation, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Deliver 24×7 Tier 1–3 technical support and problem resolution in an on-call rotation.
  • Support field network and forensic capabilities, ensuring system reliability and user success.
  • Perform system inspections, deployments, and maintenance of storage and compute infrastructure.
  • Manage patching, upgrades, backup strategies, and security of mission-critical data.
  • Participate in system boards, briefings, and cross-functional integration planning.
  • Support IT governance, cost estimation, and standards development.
  • Maintain project tracking, reporting, and communications in accordance with Sponsor methodologies and frameworks.

Required Skills and Demonstrated Experience

Candidates must have demonstrated expertise in the following areas:

  • Forensic tools (e.g., Cellebrite, XRY, WinHex, FTK, Autopsy).
  • Bash scripting and administration in Ubuntu and RedHat.
  • Storage system design and architecture in multi-petabyte environments (NetApp, NFS, iSCSI, Fiber Channel).
  • Experience with Stornext, Aspera Enterprise Server, and Aspera P2P.
  • Experience with Windows Server, Linux, VMware vSphere, Active Directory, and Microsoft SQL Server administration.
  • Scripting experience (Python, C#, XML, Perl, Unix Shell, HTRM).
  • Experience with MongoDB and SOLR management.
  • Proven ability to create, maintain, and teach technical documentation and digital forensics.
  • Experience in IT Project or Program Management, including scope, cost, and integration management.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure lifecycle operations, including installation, configuration, commissioning, and decommissioning.

Highly Desired Skills

  • Tier 1–3 system support and incident management experience.
  • Prior role as Engineering Lead, overseeing and coordinating multiple IT engineering projects.
  • Experience using the Sponsor’s digital forensic triage applications.

Place of Performance

  • Primary Location: Sponsor site in Chantilly, VA (Washington Metropolitan Area).
  • Travel: Domestic and OCONUS travel required as approved by the Sponsor.
